HEAVENLY BODIES PREVIEW SCREENING A GREAT SUCCESS

A large, diverse crowd gathered for the screening.

The film previewed to a standing room only crowd.

On Saturday night January 12, 2013, The Steven Arnold Archive in association with ONE Gay and Lesbian Archives previewed a rough-cut of Heavenly Bodies, a new documentary on American artist, photographer, and filmmaker Steven Arnold to a standing-room-only audience.  Of the screening, Director Stephanie Farago said:  “The audience laughed at the right places, were inspired at the right places, and cried at the right places.  Even I was crying, and I made the film!”

The preview consisted of a :50 min rough preview cut of the film, which is in the process of being completed as a :90 min feature to be submitted to film festivals within the year.   Stay tuned for the official launch of the Heavenly Bodies website!

*I believe that his legacy and what he stood for personally and professionally, will continue to inspire, challenge and impact future artist. *

Yesterday, I spent the day having two of Steven’s photographs framed so that I can display them in my new apartment. You can imagine how excited I was to then receive the Archive email about the film showing from last Saturday. I am just sorry that I didn’t attend.

A man born to soon before his time, Steven Arnold’s true place in the world of fine art is yet to come. Because of passionate film directors and art curators, Steven’s work is and will continue to gain momentum . I believe that true and authentic art is timeless, and Steven’s art has and will continue to stand the test of time. Regardless of the art medium he was working in or what he dressed it in, his art will continue to stand the test of time simply because the core message expressed in each piece is universal and timeless, which I assume, very much like the man himself.

As technology makes our world a smaller place to live, Steven’s art will continue to have greater impact and relevance to new generations. Under the passionate and curated eye of Ms. Fargo,,Steven’s legacy now has a forum, which will enable his art to continue to inspire, challenge and impact future artist,. Though it has been almost two decades since Steven has been here in the physical, I know he is playing a very strong hand in directing this show from above.
