The Liberation of Mannique Mechanique (1967) Luminous Procuress (1971)“This exhibition explores what could be called “queer Surrealism”, through the films of Steven Arnold, American artist, photographer and filmmaker. Arnold created these wild, bizarre, psychedelic films of blurred gender identity in the early 70′s.
Arnold was taken in and deeply influenced by artist Salvador Dalí (who invited the actors of Luminous Procuress to the opening of his museum in Figueres). Arnold’s surrealism is indicative of renowned contemporary artists like Mike Kelley and Ryan Trecartin. Proposed and conducted by James Boaden.”
